Welcome to
HARDANGER FJORDTUN

A coincidence drew us here a few years ago. It had to be somewhere by the sea or the fjord, at a good distance from the neighbors and preferably with fewer rainy days a year. We fell for magical Mælen, a few kilometers outside Herand. A place where the rain often stops on its way across the fjord, in the shelter of an old ash and elm forest, heat-loving trees that are proof of the many and long sunny days we get here.

There are now three architect-designed wooden houses on the site. In the end, a treetop cabin, a functional cabin and a functional house form a kind of modern, more dispersed cluster yard, with the fjord as the focal point - hence the name Hardanger Fjordtun. The larch-clad buildings are adapted to the landscape, not the other way around, and blend nicely into the sloping terrain, even more so when they turn gray.

We just had to share all this with others who feel the need to slow down and enjoy nature.

Welcome to Hardanger Fjordtun!

Greetings Sverre
