Trolltunga Active Via Ferrata

Fjord & mountains

Even if you feel off the beaten track at Mælen, many of the most famous sights in beautiful Hardanger are well within reach. Many people visit them on their way here. We mention in passing; Vøringfossen, Bondhusvatnet and Bondhusbreen, Dronningstien, Folgefonna with summer ski center and glacier hikingand a large number of spectacular summit tours such as Oksen, Kjeåsen and our local Samlen. The starting point for the trip to Trolltunga is also within easy reach. The picture is from the Trolltunga Via Ferrata tour that Trolltunga Active offers. Agatunet.jpg

Local culture

The open-air museum in Utne is one of our favorites. Look out for the little mermaid before you leave Utne and continue towards Aga. Include a visit to what was once a rural town, beautiful Agatunet, preferably in combination with a cider tasting at Aga Sideri or Alde Sider. If you continue to little Nå (pronounced Nao), visit the restaurant Siderhuset Ola K. It's worth a trip in itself. In Herand serves cozy Meieriet restaurant serves excellent stone oven-baked pizza. Another favorite is The cultural trail in Herandwhich is a child's play of a hike of about an hour and a half.

Samlen Opp

Samlen Opp (686 meters above sea level) is a spectacular hike and a great way to test your fitness. Although you can see straight down to the cabins from the top, the hike starts at the "back" of the mountain, a 5-minute drive from here in the direction of Utne. The hike can take 1-2 hours, depending on how fit you are or how many photo stops you make.
